Heavy Metal Summer Experience 2022

Heavy Metal Summer Experience enters its second year with full force!

About

The Heavy Metal Summer Experience (HMSE) is a free 6-week program introducing high-schoolers (ages 15-19) to union job opportunities in Mechanical construction (HVAC & Plumbing). Through twelve 2.5-hour training sessions led by construction professionals, students will learn the basics of Sheet Metal, Piping & Plumbing construction, and see what it takes to build a great career. The HMSE will take place in the offices and shops of many of the nation’s premier mechanical contractors. This year there will be 11 camps nationwide, with 150 participants! Each participant will have an opportunity to get hands-on experience and learn about the wide variety of options open to them in the trades. The HMSE at Western Allied Mechanical will be taking place from June 15th – to July 22nd. For more information about other camp dates, please visit: www.hmse.org

Why Explore A Career in the Trades?

Great pay, exciting projects, equity & opportunity. Building trades offer so much variety – whether you love the idea of using your tech skills to “pre-build” systems in CAD, you enjoy helping people remain safe and comfortable where they live, work, dine, or shop or you want to build – construction just might be the place for you. Ignite your future in the trades!

  • Construction offers career opportunities throughout the nation. With 40% of the workforce retiring soon, opportunities are open.
  • Get paid to learn! Earn competitive wages, excellent benefits, on-the-job training, career opportunities, and no student debt burden.
  • The gender pay gap in construction is one of the lowest of all industries, women earn 99.1% of their male counterparts.
  • Union training in the trades is open to everybody – Equal opportunities abound for all, no matter your size or physical strength.
