Description of Position

The Western Allied Mechanical Engineering team develops HVAC and Plumbing solutions to meet client building comfort, facilities, process, or energy-related requirements. Mechanical Engineers work within the team and with other members to produce construction documentation, control system designs, and test their designs after construction. Engineers work with fabricators, installers, and programmers to ensure systems are installed and operate correctly and efficiently. Engineers are expected to quickly learn company processes and produce designs with less oversight. Plumbing design experience is not necessary but encouraged. Plumbing design work will be a component of the job and continuing education will be provided to develop design skills.

Pay Range: Design Engineer 2: $95,000 – $120,000; Senior Design Engineer: $120,000 – $220,000

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Engineering calculations
  • Revit and AutoCAD
  • System Equipment Selection
  • Piping and Duct Systems Design
  • HVAC Control System Design
  • Control Systems Commissioning and Performance Analysis
  • Coordination with other construction/design trades
  • Cross-train/collaborate with other team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Desired skills but not required:
    • Familiarity with REVIT or other modeling tools
    • Skilled with Microsoft Excel
    • BS in Mechanical Engineer or equivalent
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively, independently and in a team
  • Commitment to continual learning and professional development
  • PE License or Equivalent work experience(for Senior Engineer Position)
  • Familiarity with Building Codes
  • Understanding of Engineering Fundamentals:
    • Psychrometric Analysis
    • Fluid Mechanics
    • Heat Transfer/Thermodynamics
    • Building Energy/Load Calculations
    • Plumbing Codes, Material Specifications, and System Sizing (Advantageous)
    • HVAC Controls Design and Commissioning Experience (Advantageous)
