Why You Want to Work for Western Allied Mechanical

Channing House Chiller Addition

850 Webster Street, Palo Alto, CA 94301
Project Summary

Western Allied Mechanical completed a major HVAC infrastructure upgrade for the Channing House senior living community in Palo Alto while the facility remained fully occupied. The project focused on modernizing the central chilled water plant through replacement of the existing chiller with a new 150-ton Trane unit, new chilled water pumps and piping, HVAC controls integration, refrigeration monitoring, seismic bracing, commissioning, and startup. The work also included engineering, permitting, sprinkler coordination, and rigging of large mechanical equipment.

In addition to the central plant improvements, WAM upgraded HVAC systems serving occupied resident care areas, including new fan coil units, nursing and medication spaces, corridor air distribution, and new isolation valves within the mechanical room. The project required careful phasing and coordination to maintain uninterrupted operations for residents and staff, demonstrating WAM’s expertise delivering complex mechanical renovations in occupied healthcare environments.
